DeVry's Commitment to the Public Good

DeVry University is driven by a mission to help bridge the gap between students’ academic and professional careers. We prepare learners to thrive, providing an education crafted with exceptional care, innovative programs and technological advancements. We apply this same level of care to our commitment to the public good. We are dedicated to helping provide access to higher education, partnering with organizations to address emerging talent needs and helping prepare students for the working world.

 

We’re proud to share a few of the ways we exercise our commitment to the public good.

Access to Higher Education

We help provide access and prepare students for higher education through efforts with Illinois Board of Higher Education’s Proprietary Advisory Committee and Faculty Advisory Council. We also support the state’s Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR) Act. Through these initiatives, we forge new higher ed opportunities for a diverse student base; volunteer to help students address readiness in math and English; support dual credit and collect data to assess student needs; and advocate on critical issues including equity, technology in higher education, faculty and student mental health, prior learning assessment and higher ed funding.

DeVry University Advantage Academy

Founded with Chicago Public Schools in 2004, our DeVry University Advantage Academy (DUAA) dual enrollment program enables qualified 11th and 12th grade students to concurrently pursue their high school diploma and a DeVry associate degree or undergraduate certificate. DUAA’s diverse student body includes low-income students, English‑language learners and those with individualized education programs. This award-winning program is offered at no cost to students.

Community Educational Service

We are proud to share the experience and expertise of our faculty and administrators beyond the DeVry learning environment, helping other education institutions, school districts and local and international organizations engage youth in innovation and spark curiosity, build STEM outreach and enthusiasm among young learners, grow career awareness and collaborate on a sustainable STEM curriculum.

Charitable Services

Here at DeVry, care is at the core of our values. We care for our students and extend this care by being an active member of the community and serving tomorrow’s leaders. Our involvement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) began in 2020 to support their overall mission of college readiness as well as their Workforce Readiness programs, which “provide opportunities to explore careers and prepare youth with employability skills for future success,” a goal that aligns with DeVry’s mission to help students succeed. 

Responsible Artificial Intelligence

DeVry University is a member of the Content Authenticity Initiative, a group of creators, technologists, journalists and other professionals working together to fight misinformation and provide meaningful and verifiable trust to digital content. Our service to the AI community complements our Center for Cybersecurity and AI Resource Center.

Support for Voting Rights and Registration

We recognize that a healthy democracy depends on an engaged electorate, which is why our student and colleague communications encourage participation in upcoming election cycles.
