Upon completion of the Undergraduate Cyber Security Certificate, graduates apply eligible credits to the Associate in Cybersecurity and Networking before moving into this program. Credit also applies to the BITN-Cyber Security and BCIS - Cyber Security Programming programs.2

Where will your degree take you? Cybersecurity graduates of our online degree may consider careers including, but not limited to:
  • Cyber Security Engineer: 

    Develop and oversee the implementation of information security procedures and policies. Build, maintain and upgrade security technology, such as firewalls, for the safe use of computer networks and the transmission and retrieval of information. Design and implement appropriate security controls to identify vulnerabilities and protect digital files and electronic infrastructures. Monitor and respond to computer security breaches, viruses, and intrusions, and perform forensic investigation. May oversee the assessment of information security systems.

  • Cybersecurity Manager: 

    Lead risk and incident management activities. Provide subject matter expertise in designing and implementing security safeguards. Create, maintain and monitor security policies and procedures. Identify vulnerabilities, quantify risks, report findings and provide mitigation results.

  • Penetration & Vulnerability Testers: 

    Conduct penetration testing and ethnical hacking of networks, systems, devices, applications. Write testing and auditing reports. Identify vulnerabilities, quantify risks, report findings and provide mitigation recommendations. Stay current with attack vectors, security tools, technologies and countermeasures. Recommend security solutions.

  • Cloud Security Engineer:

    Manage and maintain security infrastructure and applications, especially as related to cloud-based networks, systems, and transmissions. Lead risk and incident management activities. Aid in the management and securing of cloud-based networks on an ongoing basis. Create, maintain and monitor security policies and procedures.

  • Cybersecurity Analyst:​

    Analyze security logs from firewalls, SIEMs, web filtering, security profiles, and security software to detect and remediate potential security threats. Troubleshoot escalated user issues across all technology and applications related to security. Lead security-related technical projects, such as needs assessment, business risk/benefit analysis, technology vendor selection, and related. Monitor, analyze and report key security performance metrics. Ensure timely and accurate collection of quantitative and qualitative data and intelligence.

  • Information Security Analyst:

    Plan, implement, upgrade, or monitor security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. Assess system vulnerabilities for security risks and propose and implement risk mitigation strategies. May ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure. May respond to computer security breaches and viruses.

1As part of this program, one complimentary laptop is provided to students enrolled in the Associate in Cybersecurity and Networking, Associate in Information Technology and Networking, Associate in Engineering Technology, Bachelor’s of Information Technology and Networking, Bachelor’s of Software Development, Bachelor’s of Engineering Technology, Bachelor’s of Cybersecurity and Networking and Bachelor’s of Computer Information Systems. The laptop is issued during the student’s second session. Certain restrictions apply.

2At the time of application to the next credential level, an evaluation of qualifying transfer credit will occur and the most beneficial outcome will be applied. Future programmatic changes could impact the application of credits to a future program. Refer to the academic catalog for details. 

3Students may participate in only one DeVry University-based scholarship, grant or group tuition benefit program at a time. Those who qualify for more than one program will be presumed to accept the program with the highest reduction in by- session cost.
